Halloween Fun - Part 4

And the final post about Halloween (unless I get things to update the last post with). We used the Mr. Potato Head like things for decorating pumpkins this year, thinking that the kids would be happy with it. Well, as we started cutting up and cooking up the pumpkins for pies and whatnot (FYI, white pumpkin still makes good pumpkin pie), Collin made it very clear that we were not to cut up his pumpkin until after we had made it into a Jack-o-lantern. So this evening, a day after Halloween, we carved a "kitty cat" face into Collin's pumpkin.

Halloween Fun - Part 3

Before actually going trick or treating we also went to a work party at NI. It was a bit scaled back from what it has been in previous years, but the kids still enjoyed themselves. We didn't stay very long because the kids wanted to get to Gattiland (a pizza and games place, kind of like Chuck-E-Cheese's, if you're not familiar) for dinner.

On Friday, Abby had a parade at her school with the rest of Kindergarten. I took a video of her walking, but for some reason I'm having trouble getting the import to work. If I do, I'll hopefully post that here.

Later that day on Friday, I took the family to a friend from work's home for some good food and fun. Again, I don't have pictures of that...yet.

Finally, we went trick or treating last night. The kids had a good, safe time, with our only real scare coming from a weiner dog named "Abby". :)

Halloween Fun - Part 2

The weekend before Halloween we took the kids to the Lowes buildng clinic for kids. We've done this pretty regularly throughout the summer and I am now a big fan of them. It's free and the kids really, really enjoy hammering things together and putting stickers on the things that they make.

Halloween Fun - Part 1

Amidst the fanfare of learning we're having another girl we have been knee-deep in Halloween festivities. Here's a flurry of photos for your enjoyment!

Abby's School Trunk or Treak

Abby sported her cheerleading outfit for this night only, but I think it was for the best - it ended up being pretty chilly each following time we went out with the kids in their costumes.

In hind-sight, it's funny how much trouble we had convincing Collin to use the pirate custom we got him this year. He LOVED it.

Evan wasn't as happy with the costume this first night, so we tried to make up for it with a colored on mustache and burns. I'm not really sure if it ended up helping, but it was fun to try.

It's a Girl!

It is official. We are having a little girl. At this point we don't have a name and we are open to suggestions. (We want the middle name to be Sylvia after my mom. So nothing that starts with an A and nothing that ends in -ia.)

Abby's New Dresser

We picked this up for Abby yesterday - it looks really good in her room!

4 of each - Part 3: Collin

If you know Collin, you know how much he loves trains and especially Thomas. He had a blast both days we went!

4 of each - Part 2: Abby

Abby didn't get to go with the boys on Friday to see Thomas, so we went back on Saturday. Though she definitely is not as enamored with Thomas as the boys, she had lots of fun. There's also a picture of how excited she was to stay up later on Friday night and enjoy some orange julius.

4 of each - Part 1: Evan

Evan got to go to "Day Out with Thomas" twice this week, and had a blast. It just finished raining before Amy got there on Friday with Collin and Evan, so they practically had the place to themselves, including the rain puddles!

Annual Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Hey everyone! We made our annual trip out to Sweet Berry Farm yesterday and had a great time. We were out there before it started raining so it was a beautiful, overcast day. What an awesome family tradition!

Quick update

So it has been a BUSY last few weeks. We went up to D-town for labor day with Brant and Chris and g-parents Sheen, and watched the BYU/OU game at Brant's. We got back in town and a few days later on Friday, Amy's parents came into town and were here until yesterday. Their visit happened to coincide with the first rains we've had around here for quite some time. Then this past Saturday, I made a trip to New Orleans and back to watch BYU trounce on Tulane. Yesterday, I went to a funeral of a woman we knew who unexpectedly passed away last Friday. And finally today, I stayed home sick. It's been a lot of travelling, for the most part a lots and lots of fun, and definitely full of emotion.

After Amy let me take a rest this afternoon, I offered to give her a break and took the kids to a local park. I took the following pictures with my cell phone, the quality may not be the greatest. But I think after the last few weeks of everything, these kids just needed a chance to get out and just play.

Big man on campus!

Collin starts his first day of pre-school today and is SO excited. He got the same teacher as Abby had last year (Ms. Terry), and he got to finally where his astronaut T-shirt. For some reason he's into tucking in shirts these days, so I took a picture with the shirt tucked in and then asked him to untuck it for the rest. Good luck this year Collin!

First Day of School! First Day of School!

I don't know how Marlin was able to sleep in at the beginning of Finding Nemo. The whole family was super excited for Abby to start her first day of school. We got up early, and while she got cleaned up, I made her a bunch of eggs (way too many as the picture shows below). We took some pictures, got loaded up and headed to school!

I don't know why it was surprising to me how easy it was for her, but she's always been little "Miss Independent". Specifically, we walked into her class, she walked straight to her locker, put her bag in, and went to sit down at her desk and start coloring. It may have been her last day of school as easy as it was for her. It was the same the first day of preschool, it was the same attitude when she went into primary, and it was the same when she went into nursery at church. I'm sensing a trend...

Anyhow, enjoy some pictures!

OK, so not everyone was up early. Evan slept in until it was pretty much time to go, hence why he's not in these pictures. :)
