First Day of School! First Day of School!

I don't know how Marlin was able to sleep in at the beginning of Finding Nemo. The whole family was super excited for Abby to start her first day of school. We got up early, and while she got cleaned up, I made her a bunch of eggs (way too many as the picture shows below). We took some pictures, got loaded up and headed to school!

I don't know why it was surprising to me how easy it was for her, but she's always been little "Miss Independent". Specifically, we walked into her class, she walked straight to her locker, put her bag in, and went to sit down at her desk and start coloring. It may have been her last day of school as easy as it was for her. It was the same the first day of preschool, it was the same attitude when she went into primary, and it was the same when she went into nursery at church. I'm sensing a trend...

Anyhow, enjoy some pictures!

OK, so not everyone was up early. Evan slept in until it was pretty much time to go, hence why he's not in these pictures. :)

Circus 2009

This summer, one of the rewards in the local library's reading program was again a ticket to the circus. But unlike last summer, we got the reading done fast and the tickets early. Amy got us some great seats - we were literally feet from the rope ladders up to trapeze swings!

Abby and Collin wanted these ring master top hats and cotton candy for their night at the circus special treat.

At first, Evan really wasn't interested, but when the animals started to come out, at least the elephants and the horses and dogs, he was just mesmerized.

At one point they had 7 motorcycles zooming around inside this thing. It was crazy!

At intermission, we let the kids stretch out some, and Evan just walked back and forth and back and forth on the level just below our seats. Unfortunately, he just wasn't that excited to sit back down when things started, especially when it was the tigers.

Nice, Collin. Nice.

Styling, Abby. Styling.

He really is a climber!

After all the responses about Collin's climbing abilities, we decided to watch for only 2 days and see how many things we could catch pictures of him climbing. We missed two large tree climbing pictures, even still.

Texas 1, 2, and 3 and Sheen #4

When we went to Houston a few weeks ago the kids insisted that we were no longer in Texas. So the whole week we were repeatedly telling them that "No, Houston is in Texas too!"

Well today Collin told me that Grandma and Grandpa Sheen live in Texas 2, so we live in Texas 1, and Grandma Phillippi either lives in Texas 3 or California 3 (he wasn't sure which). I guess that would make lots of sense.

Oh and by the way little Sheen baby #4 is on its way.

Orange Julius

I'm not sure why so many of the pictures I take of the kids are at the dinner table, but I'm starting to notice a pattern... Anyhow, a few day ago we made some extra frothy Orange Julius, and the kids really enjoyed it.

Also, just for kicks, the other night Evan was having trouble sleeping, so I laid him down on our clean laundry, and he was out in seconds.

Backyard Sprinklers

Word on the street is we're going to find ourselves under water restrictions in the next week or two. If that's the case, it'll be a bummer, but until it's official, we're making the most of backyard sprinkler time!

We try to keep Collin playing in the sprinklers, but sometimes he's just gotta get out of there!

Abby helped with the strategic placement of the tag on Evan's swim trunks - I could be mistaken, but I think they're still just a little too big for him. :)

Abby in one of her classic poses... and looking just a little crazy too. She really takes after her dad, doesn't she?

Playhouse Sign

Tonight Abby recommended that we name the playhouse that we built a few months ago. After some intense debate, "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse", "Thomas the Train Clubhouse", "Clubhouse Clubhouse" and several other names got dropped and we settled on "The Clubhouse". The best part for me was it was a chance to use the soldering iron that I bought a couple years ago for something really useful around the house. Where was the "Burning Things into Wood" merit badge when I was in scouts? I could have nailed that!
